Resumen
Objective: To know the social representations of family in the young couples of Medellín. Conceptual frame of reference: It deals with the definition and generalities of the social representations, how a social representation is constructed, which composes the social representations, the general concept that different authors have constructed, the social representations that the young couples have built on the family. Method: qualitative-descriptive case study based on a semi-structured interview with four young couples in the city of Medellín, Colombia. Results: The data obtained allowed us to understand that the family has an important role as the basis of society, where the dynamics vary according to the upbringing obtained and where responsibilities are delimited for each member, fundamental in the development of character and personality of the people, besides being the first social group where they initiate the social interaction of the human being. Conclusions: It is evident that the family has experienced social and historical changes, there is a perception that the family is necessary to ensure the survival of people and the relationship with others, it is recognized the importance of understanding how subjects think and what meaning they attribute to their experiences which form the being of the people who constitute a society.

Objetivo: Conocer las representaciones sociales de familia en las parejas jóvenes de Medellín. Marco de referencias conceptuales: se aborda la definición y generalidades de las representaciones sociales, como se construye una representación social, que compone las representaciones sociales, el concepto general que han construido diferentes autores, las representaciones sociales que han construido las parejas jóvenes sobre la familia. Método: estudio de caso de tipo cualitativo-descriptivo basado en una entrevista semiestructurada a cuatro parejas jóvenes en la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia. Resultados: Los datos obtenidos permitieron comprender que la familia tiene un rol importante como base de la sociedad, donde las dinámicas varían según la crianza obtenida y donde se delimitan responsabilidades para cada miembro, fundamental en el desarrollo del carácter y la personalidad de las personas, además de ser el primer grupo social donde inician la interacción social del ser humano. Conclusiones: Se evidencia que la familia ha experimentado cambios sociales e históricos, hay una percepción de que la familia es necesaria para asegurar la supervivencia de las personas y el relacionamiento con los demás, se reconoce la importancia de comprender como piensan los sujetos y que significado les atribuyen a sus experiencias las cuales forman el ser de las personas que constituyen una sociedad.
