Resumen
Colombia is characterized by occupying the first places in biodiversity worldwide, thanks to its natural wealth. The island of San Andres is an example of this richness; however, it faces challenges in social and economic development; this situation, added to the concern for protecting the environment, leads to the establishment of strategies that meet the needs of the population, taking into consideration the concept of sustainable development. To this end, and as will be seen in the document, a different alternative to sun and beach tourism on the island of San Andres is proposed, which contributes to the conservation and sustainable use of the strategic mangrove ecosystem and expands the supply of nature tourism services, through community strengthening and articulation with other business initiatives with a sustainable approach proposed by the community, which can be translated into a mechanism for economic development.

Colombia se caracteriza por ocupar los primeros lugares en biodiversidad a nivel mundial, gracias a su riqueza natural. La isla de San Andrés es muestra de esta riqueza, sin embargo, enfrenta desafíos en desarrollo social y económico, sumados a la preocupación por proteger el medio ambiente. Esto conduce hacia el establecimiento de estrategias que suplan las necesidades de la población, teniendo en consideración el concepto de desarrollo sostenible. Para ello, se plantea una alternativa diferente al turismo de sol y playa en la isla de San Andrés, que contribuya con la conservación y el uso sostenible del ecosistema estratégico de mangle, con el fin de ampliar la oferta de servicios de turismo de naturaleza, a través del fortalecimiento comunitario y la articulación con otras iniciativas de negocios con enfoque sostenible propuestas por la comunidad, que puedan traducirse en un mecanismo de desarrollo económico.
