dc.descriptionEste artículo examina críticamente la tensión entre lectura profunda y lectura rápida en el contexto de una cultura acelerada y digitalizada, proponiendo una revalorización de la lentitud como condición para la comprensión, el pensamiento crítico y la formación ética del lector. Por medio de un enfoque hermenéutico y comparativo, se analizan las contribuciones de autores como Maryanne Wolf, Hartmut Rosa, Byung-Chul Han, Umberto Eco, Roland Barthes, Alberto Manguel y Paulo Freire, entre otros, para sustentar que la lectura profunda constituye una práctica cognitiva y simbólica compleja, capaz de transformar al lector en su relación con el texto y con el mundo. La metáfora del caracol articula esta propuesta como imagen de una lectura pausada, contemplativa y resistente al vértigo de la inmediatez. El artículo recorre implicaciones pedagógicas, filosóficas y neurocognitivas de esta manera de leer, destacando estrategias para llevarla a cabo en contextos educativos y digitales. Se concluye que leer con lentitud no es un anacronismo, sino una necesidad cultural apremiante para recobrar el sentido del lenguaje, la memoria y la presencia reflexiva.
dc.description.abstractThis article critically examines the tension between deep reading and speed reading in the context of a fast-paced, digitalized culture, proposing a revaluation of slowness as a condition for comprehension, critical thinking, and the ethical formation of readers. Using a hermeneutic and comparative approach, the contributions of authors such as Maryanne Wolf, Hartmut Rosa, Byung-Chul Han, Umberto Eco, Roland Barthes, Alberto Manguel, and Paulo Freire, among others, are analyzed to argue that deep reading constitutes a complex cognitive and symbolic practice, capable of transforming the reader's relationship with the text and with the world. The metaphor of the snail articulates this proposal as an image of a slow, contemplative reading that resists the vertigo of immediacy. The article explores the pedagogical, philosophical, and neurocognitive implications of this way of reading, highlighting strategies for carrying it out in educational and digital contexts. The conclusion is that reading slowly is not an anachronism, but rather a pressing cultural necessity to recover the meaning of language, memory, and reflective presence.
