Forced displacement has been a problem that has become normalized in the country. It implies that people migrate from the countryside to the city. Even if that occurs within the same city. This is the case of Medellin, given that thousands of families have arrived in the city from the countryside. Within its neighborhoods, forced intra-urban migration add to the violence that the city has experienced. This generates pressure at the local level. The territory does not have enough houses for all the people who inhabit the city. This generates a housing deficit and the formation of informal neighborhoods. It seeks to analyze the contribution made by law, primarily national and local regulations, public policies, and jurisprudence to solve this problem.Ítem Infarto cardiaco y homicidio : consecuencias impensadas de la violencia en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Restrepo Pasos, Lucas; Suárez Obando, Gabriel JaimeCardiovascular disease implies an immense public health problem around the globe. Likewise, violence carries a multidimensional series of negative socioeconomic outcomes. This paper uses fixed effects for panel data models to characterise the relationship between homicide and cardiac arrest in Colombia’s municipalities. A positive relation is found between municipal death by heart attack rates and homicide rates. Results are preliminary and further investigation is required to ascertain these findings.Ítem Infraestructuras de Paz en Medellín: iniciativas, procesos y experiencias (2008-2015)(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) García Martínez, Johana; Pérez Londoño, Simón; Uribe López, MauricioThis article analyzes the obstacles faced by both, the process of setting an agenda of public policies related to peacebuilding (specifically the promotion of infraestructures of peace at the local level) and, the design and implementation of it in Medellin between 2008 and 2015 -- The article also takes into account the most relevant theoretical debates within the peacebuilding literature in order to analyze two peace initiatives that can be regarded as representative of the peace building efforts at the local level in Medellin during the chosen period -- Finally, the article argues in favor of creating and promoting an interdependent, dynamic, adaptive and sustainable peace system that makes it possible to guarantee the overcoming of high rates of violence and the non-relapse in urban armed conflicts in MedellínÍtem Silencio y daño en la poesía colombiana (1985 - 2020)(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Clavijo Tavera, Óscar Daniel; Toro Murillo, Alejandra MaríaSilence and damage in Colombian poetry (1985 - 2020) is a critical-interpretive investigation that undertakes an analysis of poetic practice linked to violence in Colombia, in light of the silence-damage relationship. The work begins with some efforts to conceptually define silence, based on its relationship with the two spheres of meaning that interact throughout the study: lyrical language and the experience of harm. Subsequently, it investigates the expressive and thematic displacements that, during the 20th century and so far in the 21st, are evidenced in the poetry of violence; a transit, clearly, marked by a tendency towards silence. Regarding the analytical component, the thesis establishes four instances of appearance of the relationship poetry-silence-damage -each of which forms a chapter of the investigation-, from which the critical approach to the poems is carried out: the poetic image, the theme of the poem, the rhetorical procedures through which the lyrical word dialogues with other discourses and the ethical dimension –necessity and limit– of an expression directly linked to a context that challenges both authors and readers . Attending to the phenomenon of silence not only contributes to the efforts to understand the meanings of its political dimension, but also allows exploring its expressive possibilities in a discursive practice that has been examined almost exclusively from its referential scope, as has happened with the poetry that has dealt with the violence in Colombia.
