    This paper presents an analysis related with the viability of the Communitarian Sustainable Tourism (SCT) entrepreneurship in the city of Cartagena de Indias. The research is structured in the following way: Initially, a conceptual review allows a reinterpretation of the notion of TCS within the analytic framework about development. In a second moment, based on a statistical sampling, the research identifies the sociodemographic profile and the expectations of a representative group of European tourists in relation to their level of interest and willingness to participate in alternatives tourism experiences in Cartagena.
