This paper aims to determine for Banco W a model for identifying the risk of microcredit when entering digital banking and its focus is to identify the differences with traditional banking. Reference is made to the main aspects related to the administration of microcredits in Colombia and how it influences the bankarization of independents and microentrepreneurs. It also explains how traditional banking prepares to evolve, through fintech and mobile banking. Finally, a descriptive model is proposed using a sample of Banco W's clients to identify the acceptance of the bank's products from digital platforms. It is concluded that ignorance and access are the main engines for the disuse of digital banking.

Efectos de la digitalización en el desempeño financiero : caso Bancolombia S. A. : Curso de verano : el futuro de la banca digital (Fintech)
(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Serna Mesa, Juan Diego; Sierra Tapias, Victor Alonso; Luna Uribe, Rafael Alberto
The digitalization of financial services is a global phenomenon with such accelerated growth that forces banks to seek the transformation and structuring of their financial products using technology. This change is of great importance for global economic development, given the demand of the financial market and the high competition for the entry of new players such as Fintech. Due to this, it has become necessary for banks to evaluate and adjust their business models in a way that allows them to be at the forefront, maintain their market share and be competitive in such a changing environment. This paper analyzes the transformation of the business model of one of the main banks in Colombia through the adaptation or transformation of its products in relation to the digitalization processes of its services and the effects of these on their financial performance.

Estrategias de optimización para canales transaccionales físicos en el sector bancario colombiano
(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Zapata Jiménez, John Fredy; López Moreno, Ana María
Digital transformation is rapidly reshaping the landscape of traditional banking, creating a dilemma for financial institutions: integrate new digital channels or improve the distribution of existing physical ones. This thesis explores how multi-objective optimization techniques, such as integer linear programming and discrete-event stochastic simulation, can help address this dilemma within the context of the Colombian financial system. In an environment where customer habits and distribution models are constantly evolving, decision-makers must consider the impact of technology, implementation costs, and the adaptability of channels. This research addresses these challenges by developing a theoretical framework based on heuristic modeling and advanced techniques such as clustering and NLP algorithms. The aim is to provide recommendations for optimizing the distribution of transactional channels to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. The thesis focuses on four specific objectives: retrieving and storing transaction data from distribution channels; preparing this information for clustering modeling; developing an optimization model for the distribution of physical channels; and analyzing the information to segment channels according to the optimization model. Optimizing distribution channels is essential to maintaining a competitive advantage in an increasingly digital environment. By effectively combining digital and physical channels, the banking system can improve operational efficiency, broaden its reach, and respond more agilely to market demands. This study offers a comprehensive perspective and practical solutions to address current challenges in the distribution of physical transactional channels in the Colombian banking sector.

Fintech: ¿Freno de mano o turbo para la banca colombiana?
(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Atehortúa Tuberquia, Santiago; Mora Cuartas, Andrés Mauricio
The world is experiencing a digital transformation, new generations are increasingly demanding with the products and services acquired. This transformation has not been alien to banking, because Fintech is the new industry that applies technology to improve financial activities and is revolutionizing the way of making financial transactions and interacting with banks (Schueffel, 2016). The Fintech may represent a threat to traditional banks because they have been able to take advantage of the gaps of traditional banks in their services. They have served customer segments that the financial sector has rejected to avoid risk or low profitability. They have understood the generations of the digital era and with its structure of low cost and innovation every day more users prefer it. They have become a great opportunity for many banks, they are to be the perfect complement between knowledge, innovation and efficiency for the big banking operation
