Ítem Achieving object persistence in an augmented reality indoor environment(2003-01-01) Gutiérrez, M.D.; Márquez, A.M.; Trefftz, H.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas; I+D+I en Tecnologías de la Información y las ComunicacionesIn this paper we present a system for achieving object persistence in Augmented Reality Indoors Environments. In AR systems based on the Augmented Reality toolkit without object persistence, virtual objects appear and disappear as the corresponding pattern gets in and out of the user's field of view. Object persistence allows the environment to remember the relative position and orientation of virtual objects, making them appear more stable to the user. We describe object persistence as a series of transformations applied to the objects in a simple indoor environment. We then present the results of a quantitative experiment that shows how interactivity is improved by the use of object persistency.Ítem Inference in Multiple Linear Regression Model with Generalized Secant Hyperbolic Distribution Errors(Universidad EAFIT, 2021-05-12) Burbano Moreno, Álvaro Alexander; Melo-Martinez, Oscar Orlando; Qamarul Islam, M; Universidade Federal Minas Gerais; Universidad Nacional de Colombia; Middle East Technical UniversityWe study multiple linear regression model under non-normally distributed random error by considering the family of generalized secant hyperbolic distributions. We derive the estimators of model parameters by using modified maximum likelihood methodology and explore the properties of the modified maximum likelihood estimators so obtained. We show that the proposed estimators are more efficient and robust than the commonly used least square estimators. We also develop the relevant test of hypothesis procedures and compared the performance of such tests vis-a-vis the classical tests that are based upon the least square approach.Ítem On a robust linear discriminant analysis version based on shrinkage estimators(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Goez Mora, Luis Miguel; Ortiz Arias, Santiago; Laniado Rodas, HenryÍtem Robust three-step regression based on comedian and its performance in cell-wise and case-wise outliers(MDPI AG, 2020-01-01) Velasco H.; Laniado H.; Toro M.; Leiva V.; Lio Y.; Universidad EAFIT. Escuela de Ciencias; Modelado MatemáticoBoth cell-wise and case-wise outliers may appear in a real data set at the same time. Few methods have been developed in order to deal with both types of outliers when formulating a regression model. In this work, a robust estimator is proposed based on a three-step method named 3S-regression, which uses the comedian as a highly robust scatter estimate. An intensive simulation study is conducted in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed comedian 3S-regression estimator in the presence of cell-wise and case-wise outliers. In addition, a comparison of this estimator with recently developed robust methods is carried out. The proposed method is also extended to the model with continuous and dummy covariates. Finally, a real data set is analyzed for illustration in order to show potential applications. © 2020 by the authors.Ítem Robust three-step regression based on comedian and its performance in cell-wise and case-wise outliers(MDPI AG, 2020-01-01) Velasco H.; Laniado H.; Toro M.; Leiva V.; Lio Y.; Universidad EAFIT.
