Publicación Cuando el mundo no responde : una investigación sobre la alienación y resonancia en el suicidio a partir del caso de niños, niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes con intento suicida en Medellín durante 2023(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Agudelo Vélez, Camilo Andrés; Pino, Juan PabloThis research analyzes suicide through Hartmut Rosa’s (2019) theory of the good life, which focuses on alienation and resonance in late modernity. According to Rosa, the acceleration of life’s pace under the capitalist system generates high levels of stress and pathologies, which, in critical theory, is referred to as alienation. Using the Sivigila 2023 database from Medellín, a methodology was deployed to evaluate risk factors in suicide attempts. Eight variables were selected as representative of the actual risk of suicide, and three variables were used to analyze resonance. The findings showed that although protective factors exhibited high levels of resonance, they failed to prevent suicide attempts in children and adolescents (NNA) who received family and fraternal support. Consequently, only state protection measures made a difference. The study concluded that the traditional consensus on suicide risk factors is insufficient, as this phenomenon arises from deeper structural issues. The interaction between external factors and the loss of symbolic value in the individual's relationship with their environment is key. The degradation of individual and family resonance leads the subject to seek support from the state. If this last connection fails, the suicide attempt becomes a cry for help. Ultimately, when the world stops responding, suicide emerges as a final symbolic act to restore a connection with life.
