Ítem Allocation of intermediate buffer storage capacities in a production line(2013-07-24) Vélez Gallego, Mario César; Jaramillo Jiménez, Jhull B.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Producción; marvelez@eafit.edu.co; jjaram61@eafit.edu.co; Gestión de Producción y LogísticaIn this research proposal we consider a production line with random demand and subject to random failures at each workstation -- Every time a workstation fails, a corrective maintenance activity is triggered to repair the workstation -- In order to palliate the effect of the random failures in the performance of the system, intermediate buffers are placed in-between workstations -- An inventory holding cost that increases with the stage of the process is associated to each buffer -- The research objective in this work is to allocate capacity to each intermediate buffer in the line so that the average cost per time unit is minimized while the average service level is kept above a minimum value -- In this paper we assume that unsatisfied demand is lost and the service level is defined as the long term proportion of satisfied demand -- A greedy simulation–based heuristic is presented to find a feasible solution to the problem in a reasonable computational timeÍtem Desarrollo de un modelo de localización de contenedores para la recolección de pilas usadas en el área metropolitana para la empresa TRONEX S.A.(Universidad EAFIT, 2012) Gallego Dávila, Juanita; Vásquez Correa, Yuri Alejandra; Castro Zuluaga, Carlos AlbertoÍtem Estudio de la Web Colombiana: topología y visualización(Universidad EAFIT, 2007) Núñez Giraldo, Jorge Alejandro; Ardila Padilla, Carlos Andrés; Toro Escobar, Hernán DaríoÍtem Integrated operation and maintenance policies for the economic, social and environmental optimization of interconnected urban transport systems(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Martinod Restrepo, Ronald Mauricio; Castañeda Heredia, Leonel FranciscoÍtem Joint optimisation of operation and maintenance policies in an urban ropeway transport systems context(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., 2019-01-01) Martinod R.M.; Bistorin O.; Castañeda L.; Rezg N.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Estudios en Mantenimiento (GEMI)Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to propose a stochastic optimisation model for integrating service and maintenance policies in order to solve the queuing problem and the cost of maintenance activities for public transport services, with a particular focus on urban ropeway system. Design/methodology/approach: The authors adopt the following approaches: a discrete-event model that uses a set of interrelated queues for the formulation of the service problem using a cost-based expression; and a maintenance model consisting of preventive and corrective maintenance actions, which considers two different maintenance policies (periodic block-type and age-based). Findings: The work shows that neither periodic block-type maintenance nor an age-based maintenance is necessarily the best maintenance strategy over a long system lifecycle; the optimal strategy must consider both policies. Practical implications: The maintenance policies are then evaluated for their impact on the service and operation of the transport system. The authors conclude by applying the proposed optimisation model using an example concerning ropeway systems. Originality/value: This is the first study to simultaneously consider maintenance policy and operational policy in an urban aerial ropeway system, taking up the problem of queuing with particular attention to the unique requirements public transport services. © 2019, Emerald Publishing Limited.Ítem Modelación de una situación empresarial para la enseñanza de simulación discreta(Asociación Colombiana de Facultades de Ingeniería (ACOFI), 2013-09-24) Carmona González, Guillermo L.; Montoya Agudelo, Juan Sebastián; Cano Escobar, María Adelaida; Álvarez Zapata, Daniela; Rodríguez Betancur, María Antonia; Universidad EAFIT.
