    The managerial succession is considered an especially critical challenge in family businesses. Therefore, this work presents a model of managerial succession in family businesses that allows for a successful process. First, the most important concepts related to this topic are defined, taking various models of managerial succession in family businesses as a reference. For the conceptual framework, we merge the three-circle model with the CEO succession process and propose a user-friendly model for family-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
