Ítem Efecto de la adición de polvo de cáscara de huevo en las propiedades de compuestos ABS/HIPS: uso de residuos plásticos provenientes de equipos de cómputo obsoletos(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Aljure Alvear, Isabelita; Bustamante Moreno, Ana María; Tirado Gallego, Luis FernandoIn recent years, the rate of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generation has increased -- The main polymers found in WEEE are acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS), which have a high commercial value -- To evaluate a possible recycling alternative for these waste, in this study we have developed composites, using as a polymeric matrix an ABS/HIPS blend with 89.5% of ABS, prepared from obsolete computer equipment plastic casings; and as a filler, eggshell powder (ESP), a calcium carbonate (CaCO3) rich material that is also highly wasted and disposed as waste in landfills -- For compare, composites filled with commercial CaCO3 (CCa) were formulated -- Initially, it was evaluated mechanical and morphological properties of the manufactured composites -- Then, the composite filled with ESP with the best mechanical resistance was subjected to two additional reprocessing cycles to evaluate the behavior of its morphological, mechanical, thermal and rheological properties in each recycling process -- It was found that ESP as well as CCa, causes the increase of Young's modulus, and the reduction of elongation at break, ultimate tensile strength and impact strength of ABS/HIPS matrix -- The composite with the best mechanical resistance was 2CHNP (2%Wt ESP) -- The addition of ESP keeps the thermal stability of the polymeric matrix during the reprocessing cycles, but not the stability of mechanical properties, which decrease insofar as the 2CHNP material undergoes new reprocesses
