    Smart cities are a topic that has been developing worldwide for more than 20 years, and that is becoming increasingly important as technology and urban development of cities advance. This is why large cities have begun to research and implement systems and strategies for the good of the community and its development. The main objective of this work is to structure a pre-feasibility study for the implementation of a Smart Cities system for the municipality of Envigado, under compliance with the current development plan, taking into account the pillars of sustainability and population growth in the urban area of the municipality, seeking better living conditions for citizens, better maintenance practices, and improving the times in administrative decision-making. The sources used for the development of this study show the significant progress that has been made in the development of solutions that lead a city to be classified as smart and that improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, and in turn, confirm that the Municipality of Envigado meets the conditions to begin the process of implementing said systems. It is important to highlight that the development of this study is in line with the current development plan 2024-2027, which seeks to implement systems that promote the technological development of the municipality, its connectivity, environmental care and better living conditions for its inhabitants. In conclusion, the possible implementation of the project is important for the sustainable development of the municipality and the quality of life of its inhabitants.
