    Motivos y consecuencias psicológicas en mujeres que se han realizado una cirugía estética

    The main objective of the research was to describe the reasons and psychological consequences in women who have undergone cosmetic surgery, using the cross-sectional descriptive qualitative case study as Method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five women of different ages from the Aburrá Valley. The results are presented by main categories analyzed, such as Reasons for cosmetic surgery, Meaning of surgery and Psychological implications. In conclusion, it is possible to demonstrate the positive impact for the women interviewed, after cosmetic surgery, since they feel happier with their physical appearance, increasing their self-esteem and giving a new meaning to their self-concept. However, the importance of carrying out a psychological evaluation prior to each intervention is raised.
