In turn, performance is a predictor of the organization's productivity. This also happens in E-commerce companies. Taking into account that in Colombia this type of company generates a significant proportion of employment and it is expected that it will increase in the future. The objective of this research is to explore the competencies that best predict the quality of performance of the people who work in this type of organization. To find out about them, (eight) E-commerce experts with experience of 2 or more years in the HR area were interviewed. Through content analysis, emerging categories were built that allowed discovering the competencies that best predict the quality of performance of the people who work in these organizations in Colombia. At the end, it is discussed how these findings contribute to E-commerce organizations, organizational leaders, collaborators and human resources areas, as input for selection processes, and training.Ítem Competencias, factores apalancadores y obstaculizadores del alto desempeño en un grupo de colaboradores de una organización en proceso de transformación digital(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Zuleta Ariza, Luis Eduardo; Orejueja Gómez, Jonny JavierObjective: To identify competencies, leverage factors and obstacles to high performance in a group of partners in an organization in process of digital transformation. Methods: A qualitative approach study that is conducted through a case study based on a qualitative survey and semi-structured interviews. Results: A single person does not have all the competencies to perform autonomously in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and therefore in digital transformation processes, it requires teams with multiple competencies, knowledge and strengths that can complement each other. Individually, competencies such as openness to change, proactivity, specific knowledge, communication, analytical skills, problem solving, service orientation and handling of IT tools allow a correct performance of the partners; on the other hand, skills such as teamwork, use of IT tools, information management and communication need to be further developed to allow employees achieve optimum performance; in addition, the competencies are changing their meaning and becoming more challenging in this modern context. Conclusions: It is evident that the existing and necessary competencies, the favorable conditions and the strategies for the partners and the organization to perform in the best way in this context, are oriented to give more value and to promote the human qualities in favor of this change. The organization is committed to this process and recognises it as strategic and necessary to achieve sustainability over time.Ítem Determinación de las variables que afectan el rendimiento de la mano de obra en la construcción de edificaciones en el municipio de Armenia(Universidad EAFIT, 2017) Cuartas Varón, Luisa Fernanda; Polanía Obando, Luis FernandoÍtem Diferencias respecto a la performance de los activos financieros versus activos convencionales(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Piedrahita Muñoz, Estefania; Vergara Garavito, Judith CeciliaIn this Final Master's Project (TFM) an analysis is carried out that compares the performance of conventional investment assets and sustainable investment assets, specifically, their profitability and level of risk. For this, indicators such as the Sharpe ratio, the Treynor ratio, Jensen's alpha and risk indicators that are analyzed through the volatility index and beta are used. It is obtained those conventional funds have generated 0.28% more than average total return over the last six years, which is a very small difference. The study finally concludes that sustainable investment funds show returns very close to their opponents in traditional funds, despite the fact that ESG factors affect their selection of values, which implies a greater risk for these portfolios.Ítem Edición crítica y sugerencias interpretativas : diálogos arquitectónicos (2015) del compositor César Augusto Zambrano Rodríguez(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Zapata Barrientos, Carlos Andrés; Gil Araque, Fernando AntonioÍtem Efectos del aprendizaje asociativo entre un olor y una emoción evocada en jóvenes de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Cano Aguilar, Isabela; Guedella Hernández, Guadalupe; Echeverri Álvarez, JonathanThe present study is an academic exercise that aims to adapt previous scientific research relating the effects of associative learning between an odor and an emotion (Herz, Schankler and Beland, 2004). A total of 9 participants are divided into three groups according to the conditions of the presence or absence of a particular odor, Group 1 is exposed to the same odor at two times, Group 2 is exposed to a different odor at each time, and Group 3 is not exposed to any particular odor (control). The STAI instrument is used to measure anxiety-state levels in a pretest-posttest model and performance is assessed with a linguistic task. The findings are similar to those of the study by Herz et al. (2004), where Group 1 presents an increase in anxiety at Moment 2 compared to Moment 1 and the time spent together with the correct answers is lower compared to the other groups; however, the behavior of Group 2 is similar to Group 1, so it is pertinent to carry out a similar study in the future with a larger sample to obtain representative results and more information on this phenomenon.Ítem Enhanced RC5 Algorithm using Parallel Computing for Communication Networks(Universidad EAFIT, 2019-06-04) Cevallos Salas, David Fabián; Universidad Tecnológica EquinoccialÍtem Funcionalidad y recursos tímbricos en la guitarra : clasificación de las posibilidades tímbricas del instrumento para enriquecer una propuesta musical interpretativa(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Molano Posada, Juan Manuel; Tovar Henao, FelipeThis article approaches timbre as an important aspect in the interpretation of works for guitar and focuses particularly on a repertoire in which timbre indications are not explicit. For that purpose, the role that timbre has occupied within the guitar community throughout history is initially defined; afterwards, it is determined which technical aspects of the instrument allow timbre variation; and, finally, the functions that timbre occupies within musical discourse are classified based on examples from different stylistic periods. The goal is to present an interpretative vision, through which the guitarist interpreter can incorporate these colours in a clear, conscious, and coherent way with the musical discourse.Ítem Gestión de la felicidad corporativa realizada por nueve empresas de la ciudad de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Arboleda Posada, Gloria Patricia; N/AThis research sought to identify what they are doing the leaders of human management in some companies of the city of Medellin to manage corporate happiness -- It became through a cross-sectional descriptive study of qualitative cutting -- A semi-structured interview based on Seligman PERMA model was designed for the purpose, and was administered to nine leaders of human resources management of enterprises in the city -- The results showed that companies are implementing strategies associated with positive emotions, enjoyment at work and the search for meaning -- The interviewees also unveiled how they implement and execute their plans and strategies -- Implications of these findings are discussed at the endÍtem Gestión del cambio para el traslado de sede de la operación de MANE sucursal Colombia: diagnóstico y plan de acción(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Arroyave Salazar, Juan Fernando; Uribe Ochoa, Beatríz; Correa Posada, BibianaEl objetivo del presente documento es establecer un plan de gestión del cambio en el área de Operaciones de la empresa MANE Sucursal Colombia con ocasión del traslado de planta del municipio de Medellín al municipio de Guarne, en Antioquia, Colombia -- Son siete los ejes identificados para el desarrollo del plan: formación y aprendizaje, medición del desempeño, compensación, creación de equipos, comunicación, cultura y estructura y liderazgo -- El plan de intervención se estableció a partir del diagnóstico de la situación actual que incluye cuatro componentes: perfil sociodemográfico, identificación y valoración de matriz de impacto, identificación de los stakeholders y, por último, Predicción del Impacto del Cambio (PIC) -- Se analiza el concepto de cambio organizacional de manera amplia y se soporta con las teorías que lo explican; se busca cuáles son los modelos de gestión del cambio organizacional más conocidos y usados y cuáles son las palancas y reacciones emocionales de las personas con ocasión de los cambios planificados -- El referente en el desarrollo del documento es garantizar que las personas vinculadas al proceso de cambio realicen de manera colaborativa y participativa sus funciones, las cuales deben estar llenas de sentido y motivación para todas ellas y garantizar que el valor intangible de la organización en lugar de destruirse, se potencie y aumente según el objetivo estratégico perseguido con la planificación del trasladoÍtem La gestión del liderazgo en los proyectos de construcción(Universidad EAFIT, 2011) Duque Ríos, Juan Diego; Botero Botero, Luis FernandoÍtem Improving the autonomy of a Mid-Drive motor electric bicycle based on system efficiency maps and its performance(MDPI, 2021) Arango López, Iván Dario; López Zapata, Carlos Eduardo; Ceren Correa, Alejandro; López Zapata, Carlos EduardoAround the world, the e-bike has evolved from a recreational and sports object to an increasingly used means of transportation. Due to this, improving aspects such as range and energy efficiency has become very relevant. This article presents experimental models for the components’ efficiency of a mid-drive motor e-bike (charger; battery; and controller, motor, and reduction gears subsystem), and integrates them with previously elaborated models for the chain transmission system, thus generating an overall efficiency map of the e-bike. The range of the electric bicycle is analyzed by integrating the efficiency map of the system and its performance mathematical model, aiming to determine the per unit of distance battery energy consumption. The above-mentioned calculations are applied to develop a management strategy that can determine the optimal assistance level and chain transmission ratio, maximizing range and leaving speed unaffected. The driving strategy was compared against other driving techniques using computational analysis, this allowed for the observation of the proposed strategy improving the system’s range by reducing the battery energy consumption.Ítem Influencia de la relación entre motivación intrínseca y extrínseca en el desempeño de los miembros de un equipo técnico de una empresa colombiana del sector energético(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Prada Flórez, Jorge Luis; Román Calderón, Juan PabloÍtem Influencia de la ruptura de pareja en el desempeño laboral: el caso de un grupo de trabajadores residentes en la ciudad de Medellín y Área Metropolitana(Universidad EAFIT, 2019) Zapata Cano, Natalia; Delgado Polanco, Luz AngélicaObjective: The main objective of this research was to identify the influence of a breakup with a significant other might have on the job performance in a group of workers, for which, the beliefs about being a couple and breakups were described. To do this, we worked with three workers, who must have experienced a breakup while actively working, at least two years ago. Results: There is a direct influence between experiencing a breakup and job performance, also, depending on the case, it can have a positive effect strengthening the job performance, since the work becomes a source of important support in times of crisis, allowing to channel the emotions contained.Ítem Influencia de la satisfacción laboral para el mejoramiento del desempeño del área comercial de la empresa Icontec internacional regional oriente(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Inis Carreño, Heimy Lined; Román Calderón, Juan PabloÍtem La informalidad del subsistema de compensación en la pequeña industria hotelera de la ciudad de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Piedrahíta Córdoba, Danny Marcela; Orejuela Gómez, Johnny JavierÍtem Internationalization and performance of small and medium-sized enterprises from emerging economies: Using hazards methodology for competitiveness study(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., 2020-01-01) Manotas, E.C.; Gonzalez-Perez, Maria AlejandraPurpose: This paper aims to introduce the use of hazards functions for studying the relationship between internationalization and performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from emerging economies. Design/methodology/approach: Hazards functions analysis is applied to a sample of 64 companies, previously grouped into two subsets of manufacturing SMEs from an emerging economy. The first group contains firms that have attained an accelerated internationalization. And the second one those that have followed a sequential internationalization. Findings: The results show strong evidence that internationalization positively affects the probability of a better performance, and therefore more competitiveness of SMEs. Practical implications: The proposed methodology is an invitation to use models other than linear regression to explain the relationship between internationalization and performance, studying the risk function of poor performance, whose characterization in the lifetime of SMEs. The result of this study clearly illustrates how internationalization affects the performance of SMEs for both those SMEs with accelerated internationalization and those with a sequential process of internationalization. Social implications: The implementation of quantitative methodologies, such as the analysis of hazards, has implications in the social practice of research in international business, by inviting the return of data from primary sources, obtained from direct sources, which, although they are not large samples, they are representative, and therefore the results of the well-applied methodology offer powerful and high-reliability information. Irreproducible and non-replicable research results threaten the credibility, usefulness and the very basis of all scientific fields. Studies in entrepreneurship, management and in international business are not exempt from this problem that affects the ethics and credibility of research works. Originality/value: A literature review is presented exposing the disadvantages of the use of traditional correlation methodologies and proposes the methodology traditionally used in industrial engineering studies of hazard functions as a simple option, free of previous assumptions about the relation between internationalization and performance. Finally, the methodology is subjected to triple testing of conceptualization and measurement of internationalization, performance and the relation between internationalization and performance. © 2020, Emerald Publishing Limited.
