    This study aims to establish how sociodemographic determinants affect the probability of contributing to a pension in Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru, using logit and multinomial logit models. Likewise, it concludes that solving the structural problems of the labor markets will result in greater probabilities of contribution, regardless of the pension system. Therefore, it highlights the importance of increasing coverage in education, reducing school dropouts and encouraging formalization, mainly for independent workers or those that are self-employed, with the aim of increasing the likelihood of these individuals to contribute to the pension scheme, and thus guarantee its sustainability.
