Escuchando un estudio microtonal para guitarra solista : análisis de las impresiones de cinco guitarristas
(Universidad EAFIT, 2025-04-27) Ospina Quintero, Giovanny Andrés; Lennis-Cortés, Laura Isabel
This research document aims to analyze the auditory impressions of five professional guitarists regarding a microtonal study for solo guitar, composed within the framework of a quarter-tone tuning. The work is situated within the field of contemporary and experimental music, exploring the sonic and expressive possibilities that microtonality offers when applied to the guitar repertoire. Based on a structured questionnaire, feedback was collected and analyzed around five key dimensions: structure and musical properties, performance and sound quality, expressivity, perception of microtonality, and the composer-performer relationship. The participants’ responses made it possible to identify aesthetic, technical, and perceptual evaluations, as well as the challenges involved in performing microtonal music. Moreover, the role of the performer as an active agent in the reception, reconstruction, and resignification of a contemporary guitar work became evident. The findings of this study contribute to enriching the understanding of specialized listening in microtonal contexts and expanding the field of reflection on the interaction between composition, performance, and perception in current musical creation.
