    Estudio de prefactibilidad para la producción y comercialización de aguacate Hass tipo exportación

    The present study focuses on the pre-feasibility of producing and commercializating Hass avocados, aiming to compare two export alternatives: selling export-quality avocados to exporting companies versus exporting them directly. The analysis is based on the quantity of Hass avocados produced at El Tablazo farm, located in Abejorral, Antioquia. This project arises as an attempt to find solutions to various challenges faced by the owners of El Tablazo farm over the years in avocado production, such as high domestic supply during certain periods of the year, short harvesting windows, and the volatility of avocado prices in both national and international markets. Amid these challenges and opportunities, the farm owners have identified the growing international market as a chance to pursue forward integration by evaluating different export approaches that could help increase profitability. Therefore, this project aims to conduct a pre-feasibility analysis of Hass avocado production and commercialization for export, comparing sales to exporting companies with direct export. The goal is to determine the viability of each alternative based on the farm’s harvest. To achieve this purpose, the study will be developed using the UNIDO methodology, as it integrates market, administrative, technical, risk, environmental, legal, and financial analyses. The study’s objectives are to assess the financial viability of Hass avocado production and export, analyzing the key factors that influence its commercialization in international markets under two schemes: sales to exporting companies and direct export. The research will examine the macroenvironment, including demand, prices, regulations, and phytosanitary requirements in the main export destinations. Additionally, it will consider the environmental impacts of production and export logistics, along with an analysis of operational and financial costs. Through a descriptive study, relevant information will be collected and evaluated under the UNIDO methodology, considering the sector’s constraints and opportunities to determine the project’s feasibility. At the conclusion of this pre-feasibility study, the aim is to provide a solid foundation for decision-making regarding the most viable modality for the international commercialization of Hass avocados, considering technical, economic, and environmental feasibility.

    Herramienta para la selección de mercados internacionales y modos de entrada: seis preguntas estratégicas

    This research reviews existing literature on the selection of international markets and entry modes to understand the process and the factors associated with these two decisions and to identify the concepts, tools, and models that companies use in their analysis of these two key decisions for internationalization -- From a systematic review of academic journals, practitioner journals, and academic texts of great relevance to the theme of study, I evidence that the academic literature has focused on the theoretical approaches associated to the decision of the modes of entry -- In addition, the academic and practitioner literatures show an absence of a guiding tool to address the process of analysis involved in the selection of international markets and modes of entry -- Consequently, this research proposes a guiding tool to address these two decisions, through six strategic questions that arise from a vision of international markets as a source of potential clients and from a vision of international markets as a source of advantages by location – The proposed tool also explains what concepts, tools, and models exist in the fields of strategy and international strategy, which are applicable to the suggested levels of analysis -- Finally, I reveal how multilatinas have responded to each one of the six strategic questions of the guiding tool -- For further research, I propose to explore how other companies have responded to these six strategic questions, and suggest to explore the creation of other concepts, tools or models that can complement and enrich the suggested different levels of analysis
