    Taking as a starting point the Political Constitution of 1991, which recognized legal pluralism and gave value and protection to the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Colombian nation, this paper aims to delve into the reality of marriage in the Wayúu indigenous community that inhabits the Guajira peninsula, in the northeastern part of Colombia, with the objective of examining its particularities, procedure and development in order to contrast it with civil marriage, regulated by Colombian law.
