In the village of El Palmor (Ciénaga, Magdalena), there are important manifestations of iron presented with form of alluvial deposits and tabulate bodies on the Anortositas unit of the Sevilla river, which have not yet defined the existence of a possible structural control on the seams, neither a chemical classification of mineralizations. Four samples of iron were taken, join with structural information of the zone; the main purpose was identified mineral’s presents, iron’s concentration percentage, and to identify the origin of these deposits, off course whether there is any structural implication on the location of the mineralized bodies. The samples were characterized by two laboratory tests (1) X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) to corroborate the existence of kaolinite / dikite, magnetite, hematite and goethite and (2) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for show Fe2O3 concentrations of approximately 17%. Therefore, it was inferred that iron declarations were associated with the formation of anortositic rocks, which by fractional crystallization of immiscible fluids rich in Fe and Ti are trapped between the crystalline mesh, which in turn they are accumulated by the phenomenon of filter pressing and subsequently mobilized to areas of low pressure, in this case possibly to the Sevilla guideline.

Efectos de la devaluación del peso colombiano sobre la actividad del sector minero en Colombia
(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Lasso Orjuela, Diego Andrés; Vergara Garavito, Judith Cecilia
One of the most important pillars of the Colombian economy is mining, which contributes greatly to the generation of value, which is then reflected in investment, sources of employment, and development. Unfortunately, a global economy is positively affected by economic events worldwide, which is quickly evident in the behavior of the local currency, also becoming the main indicator in business decision-making. In such a way it is essential what are the effects of the devaluation of the Colombian peso against the income generated by mining in Colombia. Through an analysis of such variables, it is intended to propose a mathematical model that manages to define if they have any relationship and if there is, what are their most important characteristics.

The "Feasibility Study for the Creation of a Gold Refinery in Antioquia" is a report that analyzes the feasibility of building a gold refinery in the Antioquia region of Colombia. The study is divided into several sections that address different aspects, such as market analysis, technical feasibility, financial analysis, and environmental impact. In the market analysis, the demand for gold and supply in the international and national markets is examined. The competition in the sector is also studied, and the main potential customers are identified. Regarding technical feasibility, the availability of raw materials and the processes necessary for gold refining are analyzed. Available technologies are studied, and an assessment of construction and operation costs is made. In the financial analysis, an investment study is conducted, and the profitability of the project is evaluated. Projected revenues and costs are examined, and the investment payback period is calculated. Finally, in the environmental impact analysis, possible environmental impacts are evaluated, and measures are proposed to mitigate them. In conclusion, the study concludes that the construction of a gold refinery in Antioquia is viable and profitable and has the potential to generate significant economic benefits for the region.

Implementación piloto de un Sistema de Administración de Riesgos Operativos SARO, en el proceso financiero de una comercializadora internacional de oro
(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Burbano Daza, Diana Lizeth; Duque Cano, Dairon Rodrigo; Rojas Ormaza, Brayan Ricardo
Mining has been one of the economic activities most exposed to risks within the economy of a country, due to the great complexity of the development of its processes; this is why international gold trading companies are directly linked to certain risks of this economic activity. With the foregoing, the need arises to identify and quantify the existing operational risks, and through controls, analysis and monitoring, minimize the impacts that directly affect the reason for being of the organization. In this work, emphasis will be placed on the operational risks of the company's financial process, based on the guidelines of ISO 31000, taking into account that there is no specific risk regulation for the company's sector, and in this way propose an Operational Risk Management System, which enables the identified risks to be managed.

This article takes a descriptive approach to the relationship between the increase in mechanized gold mining and the evolution of economic growth and social welfare in the department of Chocó. The consolidation of gold production in the region has generated extra income to the municipalities through the General Royalties System (SGR), which increases the funds available for social investment and growth. To verify this intuition, the paper uses descriptive statistics to analyze trends in mining production in Chocó and the various social investment projects financed with royalty revenues. In addition, information is presented on the behavior of socioeconomic indicators related to education, health, employment and poverty, with the purpose of observing whether the social investment from royalty revenues is reflected in the variation of the behavior of these variables. The descriptive analysis shows that despite the increase in production and SGR revenues in Chocó, the results in education, employment and poverty do not show a significant improvement. However, despite this, the contribution from royalties is not considered ineffective, because the behavior of these indicators is linked to structural problems of the different governmental entities that make up the department, which is beyond the scope of this work.
