    Rediseño del sistema de gestión de inventarios : el caso Figurados del Oriente S.A.S.

    This project aimed to redesign the inventory management system at Figurados del Oriente. To achieve this objective, a qualitative study with a descriptive scope and non-experimental design was conducted. The research was structured in three (3) stages, addressing key aspects related to the problem under analysis. In Stage 1 (review/evaluation of the current situation), it was confirmed that the company’s operations rely on a perpetual inventory model supported by Microsoft Word, with manual records and no specialized technological integration. Stage 2 (identification of improvement gaps) focused on areas with potential for intervention, including lack of accuracy and methodology in inventory records, layout-related difficulties in storage areas, and the rationale behind restocking decisions. Finally, in Stage 3 (recommendations and proposal), a plan was designed to strengthen the company’s inventory management system from three (3) perspectives: (a) technological – implementing an ERP or WMS system with traceability and automation features; (b) operational – optimizing space through warehouse layout redesign and establishing a formal protocol for conducting physical inventories; and (c) organizational – developing performance indicators and updating or replacing the current costing model with one based on historical and projected data.
