Publicación La economía circular en las pymes de la industria textil de Medellín y el Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Betancur Villegas, Jorge Mario; Marín Ramírez, Diana Marcela; Uribe de Correa, Beatriz Amparo; Ng Henao, RobertThe textile industry in Medellín and “el Valle de Aburrá”, with its long tradition and significant contribution to the local economy, faces pressing sustainability challenges derived from its linear operating model. This research addresses the need to move towards circular economy models as a solution to mitigate dependence on virgin resources, minimize waste and improve resource efficiency in the sector. Through a survey of 30 local textile companies, it seeks to establish the current level of adoption of circular economy principles, exploring aspects such as the sourcing of sustainable materials, waste reduction and the implementation of circular business models. The analysis of the results of this survey will provide essential empirical data on the actual state of circular economy adoption in the region, identifying common practices, key challenges, and future plans. This primary research is crucial to develop a relevant and effective implementation plan, tailored to the specific needs of the local context.
