Publicación Digitalización y cultura indígena : estrategias para visibilizar la gobernanza y preservar el Festival de la Cultura Wauu(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Mejía Martínez, Dolka Vicenta; Ortiz Rodríguez, Catalina IsabelThe Wayuu Culture Festival, declared a National Cultural Heritage in Colombia, has been an emblematic event that has played a crucial role in preserving the cultural identity and traditions of the Wayuu people. This event has served as an act of resistance and a space to strengthen the autonomy of this indigenous community. However, since 2018, its suspension has created a significant void, affecting the transmission of traditions and social cohesion in the region. Factors such as lack of funding, security issues, and adverse climatic conditions have contributed to its interruption. This research aimed to analyze the impact of the festival’s suspension on the Wayuu community, evaluating its social and cultural effects. Additionally, it explores the role of digitalization as a tool to revitalize and ensure the sustainability of the event, with the objective of strengthening the preservation, promotion, and visibility of Wayuu traditions in a global context. Through documentary analysis and interviews focusing on the festival editions from the 20th to the 30th, a growing concern was identified regarding the future of Wayuu culture and the need for a digital solution to reactivate the festival, adapting to contemporary challenges. This study intends to propose viable digital strategies for the festival’s reactivation, contributing to the preservation of its cultural heritage and the strengthening of its autonomy.
