Ítem Caracterización de criterios de muestreo de Megaptera novaeangliae en el hemisferio sur americano para la elección del modelado poblacional(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Londoño Gallego, Juan Andrés; Catatño López, AlexandraThis paper focuses on characterizing the sampling criteria in population studies of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) in the American Southern Hemisphere and Southern Ocean, examining key aspects such as sampling periods, type of modeling, sampling employed, geographic region, and potential impacts on population study areas such as migration, abundance, and population estimation; with the objective of understanding the current status of the study of the species and identifying factors that influence population modeling and the establishment of appropriate management and conservation measures. The methodology included a systematic literature review following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, searching Scopus and PubMed and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to select 67 articles published between 2010 and 2023. A matrix was constructed with bibliographic information characterizing each study according to type of sampling, temporal factor, modeling, geography and impact, identifying the most frequent data in each section. Finally, a decision tree was constructed based on the information in the matrix, suggesting the most appropriate type of model according to the data and methodology used in the population study, acting as a practical guide to facilitate the choice of the appropriate population modeling, considering sampling criteria and other relevant factors identified in the systematic review.
