La influencia del sett y el setting en los cambios funcionales percibidos por individuos que han experimentado con psilocibina en contextos controlados y no controlados en jóvenes mayores de 20 años

This study addresses psilocybin and its negative social perception, which has developed due to years of misinformation in the media, such as headlines like “The Dangerous Rise of the Hallucinogenic Mushroom” (El Tiempo, January 19, 2024). Although psilocybin shows benefits in the treatment of psychopathology, such as anxiety and depression, its social representation hinders its consideration in the therapeutic field. The objective of this research is to explore the experiences of individuals who have consumed psilocybin in controlled and uncontrolled environments, evaluating how the set and setting influence perceived functional changes, such as emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and changes in habits. The methodology employs a phenomenological approach with semi-structured interviews to collect detailed accounts from the participants. This research proposes that understanding these aspects can provide a more rigorous view of the therapeutic effects of psilocybin, promoting a broad debate on its regulation and potential as an alternative for patients with poor adherence to psychotropic medications or for anyone seeking an alternative.
