Modelo tectonoestratigráfico de las cuencas Colombia y Guajira Offshore en el Caribe colombiano entre las líneas sísmicas Span_3600, Span_3200, Span_4300 Y Span_4100

The tectonostratigraphy of the Colombia and Guajira Offshore basins has been the subject of discussion by many authors, since it is a complex convergence zone between two tectonic plates. The most widely accepted hypothesis explains the migration of the Caribbean plate from the Pacific to its current position along the northwestern edge of Colombia and, synchronously, an oblique subduction event of the oceanic plate occurs under the South American plate. Through the interpretation of the 2D SPAN-2004 seismic lines and the correlation of tectonic events, it is intended to contribute to the understanding of the tectonostratigraphic configuration of both basins in the study area. The interpretation of the available data identifies twelve seismic sequences, mud diapirs that cross the units involved in the accretion prism and fault systems divided into five families, the identified structures were related to the results of previous works. A tectonostratigraphic model was generated from the surfaces considered of greatest importance, in which local and regional structures such as the CDSC, Alto el Carpintero, the Cuiza fault system and the Rancheria sub-basin were identified. In short, for the study area, the configuration of the Colombia and Guajira Offshore basins have been controlled by transtensive and transpressive forces, product of the movement and convergence of the Caribbean plate with respect to South America.
