Ítem Efectos de la religión como factor protector en un grupo de jóvenes de la ciudad de Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Ruiz Pineda, Sofia; Espinal Uribe, Juan CarlosObjective. Describe the effects of religion as a protective factor in a group of young people in Medellín city. Conceptual frame of reference. The term of protective factors provided by religion is approached in three aspects: the biological, such as respect and care for their body and healthier lifestyles; the social, their interpersonal relationships such as their family, friends and people around them; and the subjective, the sense of life. Method. Qualitative descriptive cross-sectional case study, based on semi-structured interviews and focus groups with 8 young people from the city of Medellin. Results. The interviews provided information about how religion is present in the lives of young people, since these practices and beliefs provide them with a change in different aspects of their lives, both Psychological, Biological and Psychosocial. However, there is a gap between spiritual and religious beliefs that young people have today, due to different social or personal circumstances. Conclusions. Religion can become a protective factor for young people, since the sum of its principles and practices provides feelings of well-being, being a means to face problems, rethink behaviors, relationships, thoughts or habits that are detrimental to a person's life.
