Ítem Análisis de inversiones sostenibles en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Marín Quiroga, Jorge Enrique; Howard Hernández, Rachel Catalina; Vergara Garavito, Judith CeciliaSocial responsibility and its close relationship with the economic and financial behavior of the multiple investments that are traded daily in the different markets, has been one of the concepts that are being included in the different analyzes for investor decision-making due to to the environmental, social and corporate governance approach (Responsible Investments). The so-called green bonds are attractive to investors, mainly due to the fulfillment of the UN's sustainable development objectives, which imply strengthening the responsible growth of their banks and improving their corporate image. Sustainable investments would imply more competitive interest rates in the market for investors. Colombia will improve its image before entities such as the IDB and IFC by demonstrating that it is managing sustainable projects and in this way it will attract the attention of foreign investors who buy responsible investments as a requirement of many funds worldwide. This study aims to analyze the behavior of sustainable investments versus traditional investments to inform the advantages they have and their profitable application.Ítem Análisis de la integración de factores ambientales, sociales y de gobierno corporativo en la administración y toma de decisiones de los bancos del sistema financiero en Colombia(Universidad Eafit, 2020) Doria Fernández, Andrés David; Vergara Garavito, Judith CeciliaThis paper presents an approach to the advances in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) of the banks that make up the Colombian financial system, exposing the theory that relates their corporate performance to good ESG practices. In addition to this identification, the policies that each one applies in terms of ESG were mapped using the following public sources of information: management reports, reports and disclosures, sustainability reports and the Código País implementation report of Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia, among others. S. P. (EPM) is a State industrial company in which the municipality of Medellín has a 100% stake. In turn, as the owner or majority shareholder of different national and international companies, it consolidates its financial information with the corporate name Grupo EPM. Within the scope of its strategic growth, EPM signed a framework agreement in 2007 to define its relations with the municipality of Medellín under regulatory criteria, and in the same year created the code of good governance, which extended to its subsidiaries to transmit confidence to investors and lenders; likewise, since 2009, EPM has issued international bonds. Therefore, the signing of multilateral agreements, national and international loans and the issuance of national and international bonds forces it to comply with covenants. Taking into account the participation of the State in the group´s decisions and that this is an important source of income for government plans, this case study addresses the financial sustainability of the company by analyzing the financial statements from the perspective of the CFA Institute and the estimation of the probability of bankruptcy or insolvency using the Ohlson and the Z-score models. It develops the description of the role that Corporate Governance plays in an enterprise, making an emphasis in the behaviors that are seen towards the firm innovation capacity and the importance of choosing the electric industry as the sample of analysis. Data availability was a major constraint to assess the proposed relationship. Nevertheless, an OLS regression was performed for a 2018 cross-sectional database evaluating firm value, measured by the Tobin’s Q ratio, against the governance rating of the CSRHub and several other control variables. Our results show a positive and significant relationship between the quality of corporate governance and the value of the company. Corporate governance refers to the set of principles, norms, and procedures that regulate decision-making and management within an organization, in order to ensure transparency, accountability, and the fulfillment of institutional objectives. In the Colombian context, NPOs play a crucial role in promoting social welfare and community development. However, they often face governance challenges as they typically operate with limited resources and heavily rely on donations and external financing. The research was conducted using a mixed-method approach, which included a literature review and analysis of NPO cases in Colombia.Ítem Efectos de la implementación de buenas prácticas de gobierno corporativo en la rentabilidad del sector bancario colombiano(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Sánchez Núñez, María Isabel; Gaitán Riaño, Sandra Constanza; Téllez Falla, Diego FernandoIn this research work, the effects of the implementation of good corporate governance practices in 24 Colombian banks in the period 2015-2019 were identified using panel econometric models in order to analyze the relationship between these practices and ROE, net interest margin, leverage multiplier and asset turnover. The positive and significant impact on the leverage multiplier and asset turnover was found, as well as the negative relationship between net interest margin and ROE in relation to good corporate governance practices. In addition, the relationship between representative qualitative characteristics of banks, such as origin, stock exchange listing and AAA risk rating, with the implementation of good corporate governance practices was analyzed, and it was found that banks listed on the stock exchange had greater incentives to comply with them.Ítem Efectos de la implementación del Programa de Reconocimiento IR en el valor de mercado de las firmas(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Giraldo Gil, Mayra Alejandra; Checa Narváez, Karen Natalia; Téllez Falla, Diego FernandoThe objective of this paper is to perform an analysis of the effect that the implementation of the IR Recognition program has on the market value of the companies that are listed on the Colombian Stock Exchange and that decided to voluntarily apply compliance with best practices in such matters. such as: i) Relationship with investors, ii) Disclosure of information to investors and the market in general and iii) Corporate Governance -- It is expected, as a result of the implementation of this program, that the market value of the issuing companies have a positive reaction -- To verify this hypothesis, an event study was carried out with the 32 companies that are registered in the IR program of the Colombian Stock Exchange; the results of the event study showed that there were no positive abnormal returns in the prices of the shares of the companies, demonstrating, thus, the IR program was not captured, generally, by the market
