    This article analyzes the judicial application of the principle of favorability in extortion convictions in Colombia, following the reform introduced by Article 12 of Law 2477 of 2025, which amended Article 26 of Law 1121 of 2006. It examines the scope of this reform in relation to reward-based justice, the penalty increase established by Law 890 of 2004, and the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Justice. Through legal and practical analysis, it concludes that although the new provision reinstates partial access to procedural benefits, its application is not always more favorable for convicted individuals due to the reactivation of the previously disregarded penalty enhancement.
