Ítem Desempeño y perfil de poder: estilos de liderazgo en el sector educativo. Caso Universidad de Antioquia(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Restrepo Millán, Maritza; Ceballos Maya, Gloria María; López Gallego, FranciscoThe University of Antioquia is a public institution of higher education, recognized nationally and internationally for its academic excellence and its innovation and support of the community, the territories and the environmental sustainability -- Framed in these challenges, it presupposes reaching high levels of management, the achievement of mission objectives and the commitment on behalf of the senior leadership support -- This research is focused on determining the possible relationships of performance with the job satisfaction of teachers, and the leadership style and power profile of the directors of six academic units of the University through the application of a qualitative instrument. Taking in count this, is presented a theoretical frame which includes the description of the Behavior Theory and Human Relations Theory expositions, the different Leadership Styles and some effects of these styles on the employee found in studies related with the theme. This part of the work is specially based on Theory X and Theory Y of Douglas McGregor, on Management Styles of Rensis Likert and theories and experiments developed for the Situational Leadership. Equally, inside this theoretical frame, is included a description of the new management currents promoted by the Anglo-Saxon movement, the Radical Humanist Movement and the Critical German Movement that inside their theoretical foundation express with some differences, the importance of counting with organizations where they should give priority to the man and the social aspects. There is also exposed the concept of a new type of organization named Holographic Organization in which appears the development of the man inside the organization as a thinking being.Ítem Poder y estilos directivos: influencia en la percepción de la motivación del grupo. Exploración en una de las principales entidades financieras de Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Agudelo Burgos, Lorena Lucía; López Gallego, FranciscoThis work contrasts the management profile and the types of power exercised by the heads of 6 areas of the Financial Services Directorate of one of the main banking entities in the country, and their influence on the motivation perceived by the employees -- For this purpose, methods of measurement of the situational leadership of Paul Hersey and Kenneth Blanchard were applied, in order to know the leadership style preferred by the bosses, and closed interviews based on French and Raven methodologies, for the corresponding types of power -- Finally, the followers were asked to report their subjective perception of general motivation at work, on a scale of 0 to 100 -- The information obtained through the previously mentioned methods allow us to indicate that the types of power exercised by the chiefs evaluated in this investigation are expert power and personal power or referent, while they prefer, in their order, the driving styles of consultative and persuasive groups -- In the report of subjective perception, an increase of motivation can be observed in the followers when the bosses use a consultative leadership style, accompanied by a legitimation of power by the referring or personal characteristics of their bosses, for as long as they consider that they have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the topics they administer -- The bosses evaluated have a marked preference for consultative style, which makes their effectiveness levels low
