    This article aims to explore some of the theories about brightness in harmony, which is something that has to do with music perception. The particular interest in this topic is due to music perception being something relatively unmeasurable and subjective, even when there are theories and mathematic formulas that try to support what is happening in terms of brightness. Many music theorists have talked about how to manipulate brightness, stating that the listener will perceive the changes in brightness in a certain way, giving birth to this question: ¿how can those theorists be so sure that the listener will perceive the brightness of a musical element the way they say? This article seeks to find an explanation for that question by presenting some of the theories regarding brightness in music, and applying them to a composition for symphonic orchestra called Bráitneskart.
