Publicación La ‘funa’ en redes sociales como mecanismo de polarización política : escarnio público y deslegitimación ideológica en la esfera pública digital(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Restrepo Arango, Susana; González Barco, Germán Alonso; Mejía Espinosa, Rafael EstebanThis study analyzes the phenomenon of funas (public shaming) on digital social media, with the aim of identifying whether, in contexts of high political polarization—such as Colombia—these practices are used not only as forms of social protest or denunciation, but also as tools to delegitimize ideologies, governments, or public figures. In an environment where overexposure on social networks turns citizens into prosumers, digital funa emerges as an amplified and viral form of public shaming. Through the analysis of five cases—including politicians, influencers, and celebrities—this research seeks to determine whether these acts are spontaneous manifestations or responses driven by political or electoral interests. The purpose of the analysis is to establish whether funas represent a threat to democracy, as they may contribute to intolerance toward diverse opinions and limit public consensus.
