Ítem A Propulsion System Design Methodology Based on Overall Efficiency Optimization for Electrically-Powered Vessels(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Mira Pineda, Juan David; Mejía-Gutiérrez, RicardoBoats have historically been an important mean of transportation, both for passengers and cargo, mainly in water-rich countries. Today, the electrification of transportation includes fluvial navigation, but energy efficiency remains a key issue. Energy consumption, in electrically powered vessels, is strongly influenced by several technical systems (e.g. hydrodynamics, battery, propulsion, etc.). While advances in some of those main systems are found in the literature, this research work focuses on the design and optimization of the “propulsion system (PS)” (Motor–Transmission–Propeller). By implementing an electric motor, the interaction of the mechanical components can be analyzed to find the optimal variables that will govern the performance of the vessel and that allow the optimal Motor–Transmission–Propeller combination. This manuscript presents the development of a multivariable optimization methodology to maximize the overall efficiency of a propulsion system and, therefore, the autonomy of an electrically powered river vessel. The methodology starts with the analysis of the physical variables that define the performance of the propulsion unit components, and establish an optimality problem and an exhaustive search model that considers all possible values of the key design parameters. A case study is presented for the design of an electrically powered river boat, for the transport of people, within the framework of the ENERGETICA 2030 project. This methodology enabled the choice of the PS’s components, while optimizing the energy consumption.Ítem Aerodynamic effects of manufacturing tolerances on a solar car(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2017-01-01) Betancur, E.; Fragassa, C.; Coy, J.; Hincapie, S.; Osorio-Gómez, G.In the case of solar vehicles, since the primary necessity is to optimise the energy efficiency during motion, many efforts are addressed by designers in searching the perfect aerodynamics. It means, in particular, the minimization of the drag force at cruising speeds and an elaborated vehicle’s Computer-Aided Design (CAD) are the principal result of this activity. Despite, these efforts can be nullified by geometrical tolerances emerging from manufacturing. In this paper, the effects of tolerances introduced by composite manufacturing processes are investigated combining 3D scanning technology and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). After the solar car manufacturing, a reverse engineering process is executed with the aim to scan the vehicle’s body and compare it to the initial theoretical design. Geometric deviations are found and their aerodynamic consequences are evaluated in terms of aerodynamic losses. © Springer International Publishing AG 2017.Ítem Design of structural parts for a racing solar car(SPRINGER-VERLAG BERLIN, 2017-01-01) Betancur, Esteban; Mejia-Gutierrez, Ricardo; Osorio-Gomez, Gilberto; Arbelaez, Alejandro; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería de Diseño; Ingeniería de Diseño (GRID)The racing solar cars are characterized by the constant pursuit of energy efficiency. The tight balance between energy inputs and consumption is the main reason to seek optimization in different areas. The vehicle weight is directly related to the energy consumption via rolling resistance of the tires. The relation between weight and energy consumption is quantified. The structural optimization techniques are studied and a series of rules is obtained to iteratively improve the shape of structural parts reducing its weight. The implementation is done in a practical case and satisfactory results are achieved. © Springer International Publishing AG 2017.Ítem E-bikes for steep roads: Mid drive and hub drive motor efficiency comparison(Inderscience Enterprises Ltd., 2018-01-01) Arango, I.; Godoy, A.; Lopez, C.; Arango, I.; Godoy, A.; Lopez, C.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica; Mecatrónica y Diseño de MáquinasPower input, speed, and efficiency concern people when selecting a transportation means. This study compares multiple e-bikes configurations and presents to the reader scientific criteria to choose the one that fits best for non-trained cyclists, who want to use e-bikes for everyday transportation in cities with steep roads, assuring that the cyclist takes effective part of the power input. Power development, speeds, energy consumption and efficiency result from a mathematical model and experimental data. Configurations vary in motor placement, assistance level, cyclist cadence, wheel type and transmission sets. Results indicate that the motor's placement is the most determining factor in the efficiency of the entire system. Placing the motor in the bottom bracket, allows both the cyclist and the motor to range in the most efficient rpm. As efficiency for the middle drive motor is higher than the hub drive motor, energy consumption in the hub drive motor is 18% higher. In order to define the viability of this financing structure, it is developed a case study of a solar photovoltaic project through performing a sensitivity analysis of different scenarios. In the following chapters, the Colombian energy market, the typology of green projects, the current contracting, operating and financing scheme for energy services companies are described in order to contextualize the technical and financial aspects of crowdfunding. In addition, the features of the Fintech ecosystem and the crowdfunding segment are also explained, analyzing the market conditions, the main international stakeholders and the degree of advance in the Colombian financing system. Finally, in order to link all the above-mentioned concepts, the gaps under the current Colombian energy market conditions are described according to the current regulation of the collaborative financing system (Law 1357, 2018). This allows proposing alternative solutions and opportunities to enable the participation of ESCOs in the Fintech ecosystem and the development of green projects and their financial sustainability.Ítem Evaluación financiera de la sustitución tecnológica de sistema de frío R22 y R507 por sistema de frío de menor impacto para el medio ambiente(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Tibanta Benavides, David Leonardo; Gómez Salazar, Elkin ArcesioÍtem Optimización bajo incertidumbre aplicada al sector eléctrico colombiano(Universidad EAFIT, 2014) Álvarez Tamayo, Julián Alberto; Puerta Yepes, María EugeniaÍtem Proceso de estructuración de un vehículo financiero para desarrollar proyectos de eficiencia energética en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2023) Cuervo González, Sebastián; Grajales Bedoya, DuvánÍtem Retailer Electricity Market Price in Colombia(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019-01-01) Rendon; J.J.G.; Giraldo; M.C.; Ceballos; H.V.; Rendon, J.J.G.; Giraldo, M.C.; Ceballos, H.V.; Universidad EAFIT.
