Ítem Factibilidad estaciones de carga para vehículos eléctricos en Medellín(Universidad EAFIT, 2018) Estrada Quiróz, Juan David; Díez Benjumea, Jhon Miguel; Henao Arango, María CeciliaThe city of Medellin faces a problem in its air quality, due to the high contamination coming from mobile sources -- According to the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley, about 60% of PM 2.5 particles are generated by this source – Sustainable mobility, and specifically electric mobility, is one of the solutions adopted worldwide, which is beginning to be seen in the city with an incipient start by some companies that manufacture electric vehicles and others responsible for the supply and operation of charging stations for these vehicles -- In accordance with the above, the feasibility of a company installing and operating charging stations for these vehicles in the city of Medellin was evaluated, in order to respond to the challenges of the city and help the air quality -- The project consists of the installation and operation of a charging stations in the city, particularly in the San Lucas Plaza shopping center -- All the activity will be carried out through the creation of the Volt Charge company -- The location responds to the characteristics of the current market where there is a greater number of electric vehicles -- According to the market, technical, financial and risk study, there were high risks of underutilized infrastructure, returns lower than expected, technological changes that would imply a risk in financial analysis -- In addition, with the financial analysis it was possible to find the profitability indicators of the project, through free cash flows -- These indicators, added to the net present value of the risk, showed an unfavorable condition in the realization of the project under the current conditions -- Finally, the project does not reach the expected values of NPV or IRR, compared with the discount rate and the expectation of the investors -- For this reason, this study recommends waiting until having a greater penetration of electric vehicles and explore other alternatives that help to make profitable the operation of the stations -- However, it highlights the high environmental value that the EV sector represents for the city and the advantages for users of electric vehicles, and the Valle de Aburrá citizens, for contributing to have better air conditions
