Ítem América Latina : algunas reflexiones sobre el comportamiento del desempleo 1984-1994(Universidad EAFIT, 1995) Osorio, Rubén; Universidad EAFITPublicación Análisis de las políticas públicas para el mejoramiento e impulso del empleo y la productividad en Quibdó (Chocó – Colombia)(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Guerrero Morales, Kevin Miguel; Ramos Villa, María Eugenia; Ramos Villa, María EugeniaThis research analyzes whether the current public policy on employment and productivity, in force in Quibdó (Chocó) since 2019, has had a real impact on the improvement of one or both subjects; the analysis is focused on the main diagnosed causes that generate the high rates of unemployment and lack of productivity in said municipality; likewise, the barriers and limitations in the implementation of the public policy are identified, which hinder the achievement of positive results in terms of employment and productivity in this territory of Colombia; and, finally, strategic recommendations are proposed that can be integrated into Quibdó's public policy to obtain more and better results in terms of employment and productivity.Publicación Análisis del mercado laboral del municipio de Caldas, período junio - agosto de 2011(Universidad EAFIT, 2014) Burgos Jaramillo, Carlos Mario; Arias Vargas, Francisco JavierEl siguiente trabajo es resultado del proyecto de investigación “Caracterización de la oferta laboral en el municipio de Caldas” realizado con el apoyo de la Corporación universitaria Lasallista, y por medio del cual se recopilaron datos, a partir de una encuesta realizada a hogares durante el periodo Junio a Agosto de 2011, con el fin de conocer y analizar algunas características del mercado laboral, tomando como referente un estudio similar realizado en el municipio de Rionegro (Mesa, López & González, 2009) -- Se obtuvo información socioeconómica útil que se plasmó en un documento, que puede servir de fuente de consulta para la generación de propuestas, tendientes a aliviar la compleja situación de empleo en la población; por parte del sector público, instituciones académicas y el sector privado -- El instrumento de recolección de datos fue adaptado con el propósito de centrar el trabajo en las características de la oferta laboral del municipio de Caldas; para lo cual se realizó un diseño muestral que arrojó como resultado la necesidad de aplicar 1.050 formularios a hogares de distintos barrios y veredas; los cuales fueron tabulados, posteriormente se generaron gráficas y tablas que sirvieron de soporte para el análisis de la información, dicho material se realizó con el fin de hacer la descripción del estado actual del empleo o del desempleo en las familias del municipio -- En el análisis de la realidad laboral de la comunidad de Caldas se encontraron problemas, que pueden ser un reflejo de lo que ocurre en el contexto nacional, como altos índices de desempleo, situaciones de subempleo e informalidad, bajos niveles de escolaridad y precariedad del ingresoPublicación Análisis socioeconómico de la Ley 2101 del 15 de julio del 2021, reducción de la jornada laboral en Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2022) Graciano Londoño, Susana; Gallego Alzate, Sofía; Vélez Villegas, Juan EstebanThis paper presents an investigation on the socioeconomic consequences of Law 1201 of 2021, which aims to reduce the maximum working day from forty-eight (48) to forty-two (42) hours per week. An analysis of the socioeconomic implications that the application of this Law could have on the business development and on the labor market, the possible increase or reduction of the unemployment rate that it could generate, among others, is presented. Law 2101 of 2021 is briefly analyzed to examine its socioeconomic effects and to highlight its exclusion of management, trust, and management workers. Subsequently, possible solutions to the regulatory regime currently applied to this type of workers are proposed. Issues faced by those municipalities are similar and well documented in public entities like the Administrative Department of Public Works (DAFP), Antioquia’s Autonomous Regional Corporation (Corantioquia), and EAFIT University. To design and validate a psychometric instrument for the detection of the level of some unemployment psychosocial effects. Conceptual reference. Unemployment generates psychosocial effects on an individual; in a cognitive level: bradipsiquia and difficulty in decision making; Emotional: feeling of embarrassment, depression, anxiety and at times a major depression, Behavioral: social isolation, lack of appetite, sexual inhibition and suicidal thoughts. Method. Quantitative studies, cross study application of the classical test theory (CTT) with 1.406 participants that were unemployed between the ages of 18 and 65, scholars from Bogotá. Results. The Castiblanco Scale was obtained with a 2.7% margin of error and a .91 level of reliability; the validity of the content equals 83% and median constructor AFE and AFC have admissible results. Implications. It becomes the first detection tool to some of the psychosocial effects associated with unemployment. In the first instance, previous empirical studies are reviewed in order to understand how tourism has contributed to economic growth over time. To quantitatively analyze this relationship, the panel data methodology is used, covering the period from 1995 to 2018; The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate is considered as the dependent variable, while the independent variables are unemployment, inbound tourism expenditure, inflation, and population growth. In the analysis for Latin American countries as a whole, inbound tourism expenditure does not show a significant effect on GDP growth, while in the filtered subset of countries, inbound tourism expenditure is significant and has a direct effect on GDP growth, suggesting that tourism is an important driver of economic growth in these countries. To achieve this objective, I will use a qualitative method with an emphasis on a descriptive approach. Techniques such as document review, semi-structured interviews, and participant observation will also be employed. These methods make it possible to reveal that, although the decree has achieved certain successes in recovering some public spaces, challenges remain in terms of implementation, due to the diversity of stakeholders and the degree of social acceptance, particularly because employment opportunities are limited and do not meet the population’s economic needs. Throughout this work, it becomes evident that although Decree 182/22 is well conceived from a legal and documentary standpoint, its implementation has not been effective during the nearly 30 months since its enactment by the municipality. From the outset, it has been clear that the lack of proper control over the use (and in some cases abuse) of public space by the relevant authorities has been inadequate, whether due to a lack of political will, limited institutional capacity, or both. The result so far has been that street vendors—whether mobile, stationary, or semi-stationary—who have not obtained permits or, despite applying to the municipal authorities, have not been granted them, have simply positioned themselves in areas adjacent to those regulated by the Decree. This has led to ongoing conflicts between those who use these public spaces for transit and those seeking to earn a living through their sales. Last but not least, it has been found that, contrary to what the Decree states, many vendors specialize in selling food without the required permits or adherence to good food handling practices, creating an additional health risk for consumers. All of the above constitutes a respectful yet emphatic call to the municipal administration to strictly enforce the provisions of Decree 182/22 by carrying out the necessary control activities. Otherwise, if there are compelling reasons, the areas of application of the decree should be expanded—always from the perspective of seeking a balance between the right to healthy public space and the right to work.Ítem Seminario de economía y mercados de trabajo en el siglo XXI(Universidad EAFIT, 15/10/1997) Franco González, Humberto; Universidad EAFIT
