    This work addresses the historical course of social protest in Colombia and warns that that it is increasing alongside the repressive measures and criminalization. It comes in the wake of the treatment accorded by the highest levels of Government as a containment and delaying strategy. Above and beyond that, it is questioned the risks, implicit in the legal regulation of the protests that have deprived them of their disruptive character and the lack of sufficiency of the legal system to deal with this phenomenon. In addition, it gives rise to questions concerning the action by the government of President Iván Duque during the protests of 2019 and 2021 and the observance of the international standards.
