    The present graduate project determines the existence of an effect between income inequality and economic growth. For this purpose, the income regression model with a data panel corrected by the System of generalized moments method (System GMM, for its acronym in English) is analyzed in the Colombian context, following closely the study carried out by Charles, Mayer, & Cheín (2018), which proposes a negative effect of income inequality on 2 economic growth. The empirical study made start of a database of 23 departments of Colombia plus the Capital District of Bogotá, in a period of fourteen years (2002-2017 excluding the years 2006 and 2007). The empirical results are consistent with the hypothesis and answer the question of the effect of income inequality on economic growth.
