Evaluación de un programa de fertilización orgánica en cultivos de Lactuca Sativa en la finca Orgaenik
(Universidad EAFIT, 2016) Vélez Posada, Melissa; Mejía Pérez, Mónica; Sierra Zapata, Laura
Green leaf lettuce plants were grown under organic and conventional fertilization programs with the aim of determining macro and micronutrients (N, P, K Fe, Mg, Ca, Zn) contents, through classical analysis (Kjeldahl method) and instrumental techniques (X ray fluorescence), during four growth stages (weeks 3,4,5 and 6) -- The classical analysis method of Kjeldahl was standarized at a laboratory scale at EAFIT University, for further implementation on future food analysis -- The statistical analysis of nutritional content evidenced that organical and conventional treatments did not have significant differences; otherwise, the time did affect levels of N, Ca and Mg. Ranges of N ranged between 0,59%-3,21%, of P between 0,5%-0,9%, of K between 4,4%-5,8%, of Mg between 0,2%-0,4%, of Fe between 0,02%-0,2%, of Ca between 0,8%-1,2% and of Zn between 0,002%-0,02% for both crops -- Absorption curves over time were developed, in order to evaluate the behavior of minerals with third degree polynomial tendency and the pattern of each curve for each treatment was analyzed, finding that even if the values of the nutrients are not statistically different, the nutritional absorption curves in lettuce plants grown under the organic program, specially for P, K and Mg, presented a more stable assimilation tendency than the ones grown under conventional methods, in which the nutritional content showed increasement and decreasement due to the punctual application of fertilizers of chemical origin -- This stability in the nutrient assimilation observed in the food cultivated under organic practices suggests that this can be translated into a major nutritional value at the time of harvest and into a major nutritional potential for the final consumer
