Publicación ¿Qué están promoviendo realmente los influencers? : impacto del contenido fitness en las conductas alimentarias en mujeres jóvenes(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Esmeral Gómez, Camila Andrea; Córdoba Sánchez, VerónicaCurrently, social media has become an easily accessible space for a variety of content, with the largest audience being young people, who may be more vulnerable to risk factors such as changes in behavior based on what is promoted on social media. The aim of this research was to analyze the impact of fitness content promoted by influencers on social media on the eating behavior of young women residing in municipalities in the Valle de Aburrá. A qualitative approach was used with a multiple case study, in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with five participants, all 21 years old. The findings revealed that exposure to unattainable and distant beauty standards negatively impacts the participants' self-schemas, fostering a negative perception of self image, body dissatisfaction, constant feelings of guilt, and disordered eating behaviors. It was emphasized that many of the issues resulting from exposure to fitness content include the internalization of unrealistic beauty standards, extreme and risky diets, and alterations in emotional well-being. Constant comparison with the influencers they follow on social media leads to frustration, possible binge eating, harmful eating practices, and the normalization of feelings of guilt when consuming foods considered unhealthy.
