Publicación La escucha como competencia cognoscitiva y comunicativa en el contexto universitario(Universidad EAFIT, 2024) Viana Sierra, Rodolfo; Cardona Zuluaga, Alba PatriciaThis paper explores the competence of active listening as an essential skill in higher education, differentiating it from the simple act of hearing. It seeks to highlight the importance of this competence in the learning and communication processes in the university context. To this end, a qualitative methodology was used, focused on the critical analysis of research and theories on the subject to build a theoretical and critical framework on the subject from cognitive, ethical, and pedagogical perspectives. Key findings include how active listening strengthens the development of communication skills, memory, comprehension, and critical analysis, fostering an environment of continuous feedback and collaboration in the classroom. Given this, it is concluded that active listening also contributes to the acquisition of complex knowledge and the development of empathy, factors that are crucial in the multicultural university context. Likewise, the need to incorporate cognitive and metacognitive strategies that strengthen this ability and contribute to promoting meaningful and participatory learning is highlighted.
