Establish the relationship that exists between the level of self-esteem and the compulsive purchase in female undergraduate students of a private university in the city of Cali. Method. Correlative-comparative quantitative study based on two instruments for the measurement of compulsive purchase (BSAS) in the first instance and the level of self-esteem (RSES) applied to a sample of 68 women undergraduate students of a private University of the city of Cali, of which 34 presented compulsive purchase and the other 34 did not. Results The results indicated that the Spearman correlation obtained was low, negative (-.207) and was not significant (Sig. = .09, p> .05). Likewise, a Chi-square test was applied, which showed that there is an association between the variables studied (Sig = .049, p <.05). Conclusions Although compulsive shopping is not a determinant of low self-esteem, these variables are associated, that is, they are linked together.
