In this document is analyzed the financial viability of a power generation project with coal in the Colombian electric system, using as a methodology the discounted free cash flow and considering both the deterministic case and the stochastic cases through a Monte Carlo simulation -- This allows us to analyze not only a reference case, but also the impact that risk drivers have on the remuneration of the investment, measured as the net present value of free cash flow -- Likewise, in this research it is found that a coal electric power generation project in Colombia is financially viable, as long as the cost structure is conserved throughout the life of the project and an adequate structure of the purchase-sale portfolio of coal and electric power is made -- The most representative factors for the financial closure of the project are fuel cost, plant size and income stability
