Ansiedad social en estudiantes de psicología de la Universidad EAFIT : promedios, manifestaciones y factores de riesgo
(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) De Greiff Londoño, Eloísa; Vásquez, Andrés
Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is one of the most common disorders in adolescents and young adults, and it impairs social interactions and the daily functioning of those who suffer from it. This study explored the prevalence, manifestations, and risk factors of this disorder in 65 first- and second-semester undergraduate students in Psychology at EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia, between January and April 2025. A non-experimental quantitative questionnaire with scales ranging from 0 to 4 was used to measure anxiety and avoidance levels in contexts of daily interaction, social performance, and intimate and evaluative interactions, as well as students' emotional well-being and academic performance. The results showed that social anxiety levels among the surveyed students increased in public performance situations, up to 14%, and that approximately 80% had social skills and support networks that could mitigate SAD, which impacted their emotional well-being and academic performance.

Determinantes del bienestar subjetivo en Colombia : un enfoque desde la economía de la felicidad
(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Mora Restrepo, Sofía; Muñoz Mora, Juan Carlos
Traditional economic indicators are not enough to measure well-being and economic development, as they ignore subjective dimensions that are important for quality of life and well-being in the long run. Using a linear regression model with fixed effects, this work analyzes the determinants of the levels of subjective well-being, or happiness, in Colombia for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020. The analysis shows that there is a relationship between income and subjective well-being. However, the contribution of income, as well as that of traditional objective socioeconomic variables, to the change in subjective well-being is relatively small compared to the contribution of the individual's perceptions of his or her socioeconomic conditions and situation.

In recent years, subjective well-being and happiness have become important as indicators of social development, to such an extent that they have been included in the design of public policies and social programs or projects. This new approach has been a challenge for the managers of this type of initiative, due to its subjective nature. In this context, Social Management offers a series of tools, so that both State and citizens share responsibilities for the achievement of a better well-being and happiness. In order to determine the influence of Social Management in the achievement of these objectives, the present study seeks to analyze, through the REDCUNA foundation, the effects that have generated their actions in a group of elders. This analysis is based on the perception that this group has about the activities, the leadership of the foundation and the volunteer network. The results suggest that community participation is a fundamental factor in meeting the needs of the population. Thereby, their participation in the project leads to the increase of subjective well-being and happiness through the preservation of cultural traditions, the generation and strengthening of social relationships and the preservation of functionality levels through healthy competition.

(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Posada Villa, Katherinn; Sanín Posada, John Alejandro
A study was conducted exploring the relationship between work disconnection and the subjective well-being of teleworkers in the municipality of La Unión. It first investigated the factors that facilitate or hinder this disconnection, then the effects on subjective well-being, and finally, by reviewing the strategies people use to disconnect. All from the perspective of individuals. Qualitative research was conducted, with the participation of seven people (six teleworkers and one expert), using interviews as a data collection technique. The results showed elements such as autonomy and a positive view of the company that facilitate disconnection; among the consequences were the harmonization of personal and family time, and freedom in activities. Strategies for disconnection and subjective well-being included time management, overcoming preconceptions, and strengthening organizational culture. In conclusion, the study allowed us to explore the relationship between work disconnection and subjective well-being from the perspective of individuals and how they manage this disconnection in a small town like La Unión (Antioquia), where its residents are venturing into teleworking.
