Ítem Ajuste ecuación de predicción Witczak modelo NCHRP 1-37A del módulo dinámico (|E*|) de mezclas asfálticas(Universidad EAFIT, 2021) Lara Ruiz, José Joaquín; Vidal Valencia, JuliánThe global trend is to develop empirical-mechanistic (M-E) design methods, due to the shortcomings of empirical methods, such as AASHTO -93. In this work, a local adjustment methodology is proposed to the Witczak equation NCHRP 1-37A of the new AASHTO Guide. Likewise, a non-sigmoidal equation is presented that considers the correlation of the individual variables with the dynamic module |E *| by means of the Spearman coefficient. Nine (9) different hot asphalt mixtures were analyzed, the results of the dynamic laboratory module were compared with those obtained with the Witczak prediction formula in the new AASHTO 2004 Guide for the Mechanical-Empirical Design of Pavements MEPDG. Based on the statistical analysis, local adjustments were proposed to the coefficients of the sigmoidal equation NCHRP 1-37A; Finally, by multivariate non-linear correlation analysis methods, an alternative model was proposed to estimate the value of the dynamic module E *, from the volumetric aspects of the asphalt mix and the viscosity of the asphalt cement. The study concluded that: (a) better values of the correlation coefficient of the modified equation are obtained with respect to the original equation of Witczak 1-37A and (b), the non-sigmoidal equations can be simple and produce results similar to the sigmoidal with equal or greater statistical reliability.
