Ítem Analysis of the boundary conditions for pyramidal spine fins in extended surface heat transfer(WITPress, 2014-01-01) Carranza, R.G.; Ospina, J.; Carranza, R.G.; Ospina, J.; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Lógica y ComputaciónMany studies are conducted for pyramidal spine fins relating to temperature profiles and fin efficiencies. However, it is found that a deeper look into the boundary conditions is required. The conditions at the base are simple enough, but the conditions at the tip are more complicated. Despite what condition is applied to the tip, the value at the tip actually has a specific value that is a function of the square root of the Biot number. This result is proven using basic principles from calculus, like the Limit and L’Hospital’s rule. © 2014 WIT Press.Ítem A Curricular Guide to Understand Some Geometrical Concepts on the Context of the Coffee(FUNDACION UNIV CATOLICA NORTE, 2016-04-19) Gonzalez Molina, Juan David; Santa Ramirez, Zaida Margot; Londono Cano, Rene Alejandro; Gonzalez Molina, Juan David; Santa Ramirez, Zaida Margot; Londono Cano, Rene Alejandro; Universidad EAFIT. Departamento de Ciencias; Educación Matemática e Historia (EAFIT – U de A)In this article a curricular guide to progress in the levels of understanding is presented, a summary of the characterization of the understanding performed for each of the participants and the evolution of the evaluation rubric called Descriptors of Category by Level, which objective was to help three students of rural zones of a municipality of Antioquia (Colombia), in the analysis of the understanding of the geometrical concepts of perimeter and area and the independence of their measures within the context of the agriculture of coffee. In order to present this situation the theoretical framework, the subject background and the methodology are showed. Finally, some fragments of the analysis of the understanding of the participants and the final version of the rubric are published, which is preceded by a short summary of the moments occurred before making it.
