Publicación Como tambor y voz : análisis de la aplicación del piano en músicas afroamericanas(Universidad EAFIT, 2025) Ramírez Espinosa, Juan Sebastián; Lennis Cortés, Laura IsabelThis work analyzes the influence of African elements on the piano language of Afro-descendant music from the Americas. It addresses structural, rhythmic, and timbral elements that reveal a musical logic inherited from African tradition--reinterpreted through the piano in genres such as jazz, salsa, funk, and blues. It addresses the piano as a percussive and expressive instrument beyond its traditional melodic-harmonic conception in genres such as salsa and funk. Additionally, this document proposes an analytical framework based on organizational principles characteristic of African music, such as the interaction between constant and variable elements and the combination of binary and ternary pulse groupings. This text aims to delve deeper into the elements that allow us to understand the Africanisms of the piano in the Americas, with special interest in their future application to the study of Afro-Colombian music.
