Ítem Discurso sobre el registro Proterozoico y Permo-Triásico en los Andes de Colombia(Universidad EAFIT, 2020) Montoya Arredondo, Juan Diego; Bustamante Londoño, CamiloThe recent U-Pb ages in rocks of the Proterozoic and Permo-Triassic basement in Colombia has led to the reformulation of tectonic models in Colombia and of the distribution of tectonostratigraphic terrains. Ages obtained between 293 and 234 Ma for the units of the Central Cordillera such as; the Cajamarca Complex, the Gneises and Amphibolites of Tierradentro, the Rovira stock, the Abejorra Gneis and other bodies that make up the basement of this mountain range, show that these were formed during the formation of Pangea in the Permo- Triassic. This geochronological information has also made it possible to define that the Grenvilian rocks are located in the Guajira Peninsula, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in the San Lucas Mountains and in the Garzón and Santander massifs. The conception of a Permo-Triassic basement of the Central Cordillera would have palaeogeographic implications and would suggest a possible redefinition of the boundary between several of the terranes proposed by different authors recently; in addition to invalidating the concept of the "Garzón-Santa Marta Granulitic belt", defined as a Proterozoic belt that would include the Central Cordillera.
