Models for the design of transmedia experiences in educational environments. Explorations around The Walking Dead, The Odyssey and Tom Sawyer
(UNIV ALICANTE, 2018-01-01) D. MONTOYA-BERMUDEZ; M. VASQUEZ-ARIAS; Universidad EAFIT. Escuela de Ciencias y Humanidades; Estudios Culturales
This text presents two models for the design of transmedial experiences applicable from the context of the communication to pedagogical scenarios. Using research as a method through design, two transmediation practices are systematized: one of a narrative nature in formal educational contexts, and the other experiential for informal pedagogical environments; both exercises with common goals: to encourage reading and writing in different audiences, and to promote transmedia practices as dynamizers of media literacy processes, in an idea to put the media on the side of education. These proposals made it possible to demonstrate, both from the intertextual systems and from the intermediary systems, the potentialities of transmediality as an articulator vector of creation and experimentation processes. Finally, as a contribution, the text focuses on the elaboration of a methodological proposal for the transmedia design of experiences through which intermediality is considered as a broader view towards transmediation.

Romance in the femslash. A narrative analysis of fan fiction: Una vez mas, una oportunidad mas
(Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, 2019-06-01) M. ISABEL VILLA-MONTOYA; D. MONTOYA-BERMUDEZ; J. ESCOBAR; Universidad EAFIT. Escuela de Ciencias y Humanidades; Estudios Culturales
This article analyzes to what extent femslash, a story created by fans that deals primarily with lesbian narratives, breaks with the classic canons of the construction of romance in fiction and proposes alternatives to overcome social stigmas around gender distinction. Through character analysis, the research identifies some of the main features of fictional structures for entertainment resulting from fan fiction. The research shows that the stories created by followers of serial audiovisual products dearly express some of the most relevant characteristics of the transformations not only of entertainment, but also of society and its heteronormative systems. This work provides valuable information on an unexplored subject and examines a concrete case study to demonstrate how the Internet can create spaces of creative resistance for minorities.
